Loved the ending. A bit sad. A bit wistful. Even a bit serene.

I enjoyed your story. What a resonant moment, all the feelings that cause out emails to be discarded… I love the inclusion of music! May I ask what the tune is? It reminds me of a Lana Del Rey song.

Thank you! The music is the theme song of 1968 'Romeo and Juliet' movie, composed by Nino Rota. Thankfully, Substack allows me to embed audio links in my stories, as most of them are prompted or inspired by music. I'm so glad you've enjoyed this one🙂

Oh wow, I’ve seen that version! Beautiful movie. What a cool idea.

I figured out which song it reminded me of. Like you, she was definitely inspired by ‘Romeo and Juliet!’ https://youtu.be/7UihjcpT_vo?si=v_fCRaT3cdlz9ZjZ

Oh, that's so sad! How dreams can hurt so much. I'm going to read this again.

Thank you so much, Jane! This is one of my first stories, rejected many times and now a bit dusted, a bit polished... It's so wonderful I can resurrect it here.🙂

Oh, thank you, Quies! Such an incredible thing, isn’t it? How some stories contain triggers the writer is completely unaware of. Very few of my friends from the Conservatoire remained on the stage. I stepped down after a 7-year stint, unable to generate the energy I needed. Writing charges me up, gives me the drive of creativity you mention, and makes me like and respect myself in a new way.

You don’t have to apologize for not subscribing, and your reason is beautiful! This kind of communication is a hundred times better than just being added to a number that hardly means anything.

Grazie mille!

Ronnie 😊
